so i a world that hates the US, in a country that has made hating the US their national identity, and in a world where even americans hate Bush, one would think and hope that Harper would finally take off his Bush mask and stand up to the roll of a Canadian Prime Minister. But alas, that poor poor conservative idiot is standing firm with his military position. he even went as far as to say that he doesn't care if this makes him unpopular and loose the next election. well, forgive me Mr. Harper if i slept through the full explanation of what a democracy is, but i was under the understanding that the government was suppose to act on behalf of the people. Clearly i was mistaken, although i was never naive enough to believe that any country has had any form of a true democracy.
but no need to worry, of all parties, the Bloc Quebecois will save us. the other thing that Harper is somehow forgetting is that he is a minority government. and the Bloc, god bless their hearts, are willing to topple the government to stop any further military action. see Quebec, this is why you cannot separate, we need you! and part of me is wondering if this is part of Harper's plan. he has got to know that he is a sitting dead duck. any policy he has tried to address has met with opposition, not only from the official opposition, but also from the Canadian public. he hasn't made any changes really, and i think he knows that even those who voted for him are disappointed. like, come on, how much has the 1% break on GST really affected any of us??? he was put into office to piss off the liberals who accepted the criticism and got themselves a new scandal free leader. i think Canada is willing to let them out of the penalty box now. it is also interesting that there is probably more buzz about how Dion is handling his new position than what Harper is up to. Everyone wants to see Dion in action to see if he can live up to the challenge of being the next PM. we are talking as if it is a garentee that he will win the next election. Harper is probably planning his exit strategy. i am sure he doesn't want to be known as the PM that didn't really do anything, didn't keep his promises and that decreased the GST only to find surprise surprise that no one cared (the discount only would really affect big spenders like big business, not the average person, but then again, did we ever think that Harper put the average person above big business?). No, he wants to be remembered as a man of principal that got voted out, not because he is an idiot and poor leader, but because he is a man of principal that would not bend in his support for war. good luck with that.
